Letter to the Editor, Laurens County Advertiser
To the editor, In the coming election, Laurens County voters will have the option to approve the 1 cent Capital Sales Tax. This tax will be in effect for 8 years. This money will be spent for items (16 items) already decided by county council. It cannot be redirected into the general budget or other budget. It will be monitored closely. People shopping or traveling through Laurens County will pay part of this. Average cost per resident will be about $3.02 per month. It is projected we can raise about $51 million dollars over the 8 years. One of these projects is a new library for Clinton. Another is some improvements at the Gray Court Park. Long range plans could be a library for Gray Court. Something I would love to see. Even though I never
dreamed I would encourage you to vote for a sales tax, I’m asking you to consider voting “Yes”!
